I want to run forward to the future.
I can see what I want and how I want to be.
I can feel what feels right and how we can get there.
I race ahead excited and overflowing with joy.

‘Come on’, I say to everyone around me.
‘This will be fun. This will be a fine way of living. ‘
Then I stop and realize.
I am not surrounded by people like I thought I should be.

I look back over my shoulder.
There are some dotted across the horizon like marathon runners in the last leg of a race.
But the majority of people are way back there.
Way back.

I stopped running. I don’t want to do this alone.
What’s the fun in that?
I could be like Robinson Crusoe and build fantastical treehouses, water systems and all sorts of existence.
But really what is the point?
The point is that we do it together.

Sure there will be the first to arrive and then others will follow.
Each arrival is based upon their own determination.
Their own level of realization.

If I push too far ahead it will be difficult and frankly, I would rather share the journey.
I pause and take a few steps back.
I turn again and look forward.

I can see what needs to happen.
I need to make a decision.
This is a difficult moment.

I sigh and take a deep breath.
I can wait here or I can go back and encourage the rest to keep going.
Like bystanders along the marathon path encouraging the runners.
You got this.. You’re almost there.. Good job.

I am not interested in being a bystander
It’s okay to be the forerunner in a race.
IF it was a race. It’s not.
This is about a personal best.
This is about holding faith.

Well, it is a race. A species.
Recovery of a species.
Renewal of a species.
A new future for the new species.

I scan the way ahead and realize there is something up there.
I am not the one in front.
I am one of the ones dotted along the path.

There are already people ahead.
My heart quickens. My spirits lift.
I will keep going and see what I can do to help by going forward.

I get excited again as to what I will find when I arrive.
I push on knowing full well this is a solitary walk.
It actually has been already.

Even if it feels like I am alone. I am not.
Even if it feels like I am in front. I am not
There are many walking this path together.

I smile.
There will be the arrival of the many.
The celebration will be spectacular.



When I arrive I will look for people I recognise.
I will greet everyone as friends and family.
After such a journey how can we not be bonded by spirit.

The experience of such an expedition will be a fantastical story to tell .
This is us. We are writing this story.
