Sleight of hand: A cleverly executed trick or deception [Merriam-Webster]
Oh, joy! California has reopened! The lockdown is over. We can go about our normal lives now, without masks and social distancing and viewing each other with suspicion because the other person might be “unsafe,” which is how we’ve been programmed over the last sixteen months.
Yep, California reopened yesterday. Sort of. Under certain conditions. For certain people. If you’re not in the privileged caste, i.e., vaccinated, go to the back of the line, stand over there, keep your mask on at all times, and for goodness’ sake, stay away from me and my safely vaccinated bubble.
A glance at various news sources shows a populace bubbling with enthusiasm and untrammeled anticipation at this little drip of so-called freedom. “All smiles, no tiers,” blares a triumphant headline.
Really? Really? Did no one read the fine print? Did no one notice that the exceptions to this “freedom” are legion? They include some of the most vulnerable populations among us, who still must wear masks in many circumstances and locations, regardless of vax status.
As for the unvaccinated, well, you might as well go back home and lock yourself in, because essentially, you’re not wanted anywhere in public without your mask on.
People also seem to be ignoring that the guv has kept his emergency powers, which means that if a “variant” crops up (or basically because of any other “public health crisis”), it’s back to the big boot of government overreach. Until we have this dangerous new situation under control, all lockdown and other restrictions shall be reinstated, until further notice.
What’s happening in California just about makes me give up on humanity. How stupefyingly credulous can we be?

I’m not sure how well anybody has thought this through. There are so many potential problems. I mean, how can you tell for sure that a person has been vaccinated, and is “safe” to be around?
Not to worry, Big Brother has the cure for that dilemma. California, through its chief bureaucrat Newsom, has offhandedly indicated that there will soon be a “system” in place to check on vax status. Oh, no, it’s not a vaccine passport, which would be a tad unconstitutional…just a “verification system.”
What does a passport do? Verify that a person is who they say they are; provide identification. What will the verification system do? Provide passport-level documentation that a person is worthy of being treated as a first-class citizen because they have welcomed a thimbleful of toxic chemical and metallic compounds into their body.
Semantics. Sleight of hand.

I believe it’s been reported that some people’s bodies have become magnetized through being vaccinated. Perhaps it’s an unadvertised component of the vaccines, and all of the vaxxed will soon have refrigerator magnets jumping onto them when they go for a glass of milk or a brewski.
Maybe future doorkeeper-guards will just need to pass some kind of sensing device over our bodies to read our vax status, forget the smartphone passport.
It would be like living in a giant airport terminal with metal detector wands being passed over us to enter any establishment or event. And woe betide those who don’t pass muster. Sorry, no entrance for you, unworthy human.

Life just seems to be turning into one creepy, sci-fi worthy circumstance after another. And like many others, I grow tired of waiting for all those other shoes to drop.
Thank goodness there’s a smidgen of mainstream media (including comedian Jon Stewart) that have commented on the Wuhan lab leak and the baldfaced lies of Dr. Fauci. Thank goodness the election audit movement is picking up steam, and Arizona has, I believe, finished its verification and counting process.
Maybe the biggest sleight of hand is benevolent misdirection in aid of a good cause. Perhaps the oppression and absurdity of the covid madness is, as many sources indicate, nudging people away from what they innately sense is a bunch of malarky and toward the realm of truth over lies, love over fear, welcoming to all over exclusion and separation.
That is a sleight of hand I would be honored to help pull off. A con of celestial proportions, helping to launch a magnificent flowering for humanity and all of Gaia. And beyond!
Let’s make it so.
