Enjoy the highs, lows, twists and turns of life. We encourage you to play. It is why you are here!
You have chosen this human incarnation to experience the highs and lows, sweet and sour, the rain and the sun. You are still going to have preferences, but universally, there are no bad moments.
You have come for it all—to enjoy a wonderful kiss and to stub your toe. When you are in a moment you don’t prefer, can you pause and acknowledge that you have come for this experience too?
Have you ever gone to an amusement park and complained about the long lines; but when you are on the ride, you are laughing and giggling with glee and many times, when it’s over, you say, “Let’s go again.”
After the ride, do you want to be the one who complains about the line, or who talks about how fun it was and the experience—all of it—the line, talking with your friends, the ups and downs, the twists and turns of the ride?
What do you have to complain about? Your mind will say quite a lot. The mind complains to keep itself from being bored. But when you are grumbling about something, you are protesting the line which is taking you to the ride you signed up for.
Can you practice releasing resistance instead of trying to change what is? It is improbable that you can speed up the roller coaster line. There is very little you can change about the line, but there is quite a lot you can change about your way of being in the line.
Do you want to grumble in traffic to give your mind something to do, or do you want to turn on the radio and sing a song? How would you like to enjoy your time in line? Because there’s going to be a lot of it.
If you went for a walk in a meadow to pick wildflowers and it was two feet between the flowers, would you get bored, frustrated and angry because the second flower wasn’t right next to the first? Absolutely not; but all you are grumbling about is that two feet between each flower.
Each of you is blessed beyond measure. Can you acknowledge your blessings and bestow them on every human being? You always have more blessings than you have troubles. Always!
The trick is to put your focus on the roller coaster ride, the enjoyment, and not lament, resist or grumble about the line you are in. Instead of trying to change the perceived negative moment, be interested in what can be, what can come of it.
