Tiny Victories | Catherine Viel

The great victory, which appears so simple today, was the result of a series of small victories that went unnoticed. ~ Paulo Coelho
I’m having to seek tiny things to help me stay in equilibrium. Trudging through the minimum necessary in a day is worthy of a gold star. Remembering to smile at strangers is worth a diamond. And radiating sunniness instead of gloom should send me to the head of the class.
Sometimes doing even the minimum feels impossible. I’m sure this is common for many of us during these tumultuous and exhausting times. I’m also sure that the deep sorrow and anger over the Maui fires and aftermath seeps like a miasma through the ethers to all who are sensitive to such things.
In the actual reality of the world, next week is shaping up to be “big.” Mike Lindell, I believe, plans to release more truth bombs. Perhaps President Trump’s lawyers will file pleadings documenting the election interference data he was going to unveil in a press conference on August 21. And it’s my understanding that on August 22, BRICS is set to go on the gold standard.
These things, barring catastrophe, are supposed to occur, and have been noted by the mainstream. You would think I’d feel at least a glimmer of hope or euphoria. And yesterday, I certainly was feeling hopeful and happy.
But today, I’m dragging. I feel I ought to have better control over my moods. Simultaneously, I feel I don’t have the tools to combat the dark, dense energies that can wreak havoc on our bodies and emotions.

So I go back to my tiny victories. I speak extra warmly to my family member and bestow many hugs. I keep the windows closed, as they prefer, although I’d rather let in the fresh air. We go on a leisurely drive around town, just to do something a little different.
I don’t consider those actions to be self-sacrificing. On the contrary. When I’m able to behave kindly and thoughtfully even through weariness and borderline blues, there’s a reciprocal topping up of my sunshine quota.
This is what many people discover in midst of disaster, such as in Maui. Sharing what we can, even if it’s only a word or touch of solace, nurtures us deeply. In the giving, we are receiving tenfold.
I suspect that is not how the cabal (if they set the fires) wanted us to react. I expect they sought to trigger our despair, and in the short term, there will be plenty of it.
But the gold of the human heart will always shine more brightly than the darkness at the bleak beginning of such events. And that is quite a large victory, indeed.
