FREEDOM ... FREEDOM!...

O lovely bird,
How sweetly do you sing,
How wonderful the way you fly
On tiny feathered wing...
You swoop so low to Mother Earth
Alight on fragile bough,
Then soar up high on wings of GOLD
How wondrous is thy power.
NO roar of engines deafening din
NO fret…NO fume… NO fuss,
Nor bound to Earth
With feet of clay
Like mortals such as us!
Man tries to fly the way you fly
Yet still he’s lost for words,
When watching nimble feats of flight
Of dainty humming birds,
Or eagle climbing high above
On thermals small and narrow,
Or comic antics close to Earth
Of humble little sparrow.
O bird…
No thoughts of ‘morrow on your mind
You live here in the NOW.
You pass each moment filled with JOY
No wrinkles on your brow!
You do not work, or cook or sew
So simple is your life,
No words of hatred, greed or blame
No worries, care or strife.
I bird… O bird
When will WE learn
The WISDOM that you teach us,
To live in HARMONY with life
So ’NATURE’S PEACE’ can reach us.
For who can know what lies in store
What secrets ‘SHE’ might share,
If we could only come to ‘HER’
In silent humble prayer,
At eventide…
When stars proclaim the night
And man can dream his own sweet dreams
Of silent wingless flight,
To soar…
Unbound by human form
In ‘ REALMS OF LIGHT’ above,
To be set FREE… to dwell with THEE
O ‘MYSTERY OF LOVE,’
