Breath of the Spirit | Poem by Celia Elliott

BREATH OF THE SPIRIT…

O wind… O wind
From where dost thou blow…
From warm foreign lands
Or the cold Winter’s snow?
Some say the movement
Of air on our earth,
Others…
That Spirit has given you birth!
On your breeze floats a bird
So fragile… so free
A reflection without
Of the spirit in me,
‘Tis said ‘All Without’
Is ‘Hidden Within…’
That the Wind of the Spirit
Cannot end or begin,
For well must it play
Its own part in the whole…
The movement of Grace
‘Twixt the self and the soul.
From ‘Without’…we may feel
Of its touch so sublime,
But ‘Within’ we experience
Its Nectar Divine…
As it flows through the heart
Bringing comfort and Peace,
In the Spirit of God
All troubles cease!
Dare we seek it for self
In this ‘shell’ to contain…
‘Twill quickly move on
But return once again,
If we earnestly seek it
And humbly pray…
The ‘Breath of the Spirit’
Will soon find a way!
Patience will bring it
More close than before…
For faith has grown stronger
And now wider the door
That opened… long long ago,
Down the path some call time
That so often seemed slow,
Yes… a feather seemed I,
Tossed on your breeze
O Breath of the Spirit…
I beg of Thee please,
Always guide me
And hold me
Gently… but tight,
In the warmth of Your Love…
In Your Mantle of Light,
But now in the stillness
Again do we meet,
Closer than closeness
In silence we greet…
One another… together,
For we know we are one,
Now the questing has ended
The knowing begun.
O ‘Breath of the Spirit’
Within and above,
Thou art MY BELOVED…
But of all…
THOU ART LOVE.
