Last night was HALLOWEEN.
I have not been a fan since my child became too old to trick or treat.
To my dismay, he declared at the age of 12 he was too old for this activity.
Now I would have to actually buy candy if I wanted that sugar source.
My cravings could no longer be hidden as an excuse to eat his socially accepted begging bounty.
Some adult friends are still fascinated by this holiday.
I am pretty sure they are much older than 12.
Well, it is what it is.

I was somewhat conflicted when one of my favorite podcasters promoted his Monday program as The Three Witches.
Perhaps many of you recognize that title.
My conflict was wanting to watch them but not wanting to engage in the promotion of the Halloween scenario.
I was pleasantly surprised by the attitude of the presenters, the three Witches. They were exploratory in their approach and gave connection to the origin of this tradition, revealing its secrets and giving a fuller perspective.
Specifically Janine, who connected the witch branding to wise women with knowledge and by Tarot standards, called the old Crone.

The old Crone description given by Janine describes me and a lot of my friends very well
Women who were healers and had gained a considerable amount of knowledge about herbs and other such healing practices as they grew older.
This knowledge was considered a threat to the establishment and thus they were branded as witches

Actually it describes a lot of men I know.
For balance and equality let’s give the men a platform too.
Do we consider them crones?
That seems more of a feminine term.
Old crones just roll off the tongue as sweet and demure. I wouldn’t consider men as such.
Do we call them old cranes? Maybe crunes?
The ‘witch’ conversion goes to ‘Warlock’ or ‘Wizard’ by changing a constant rather than just a vowel. Using that guideline and borrowing a ‘d’ from wizard and plugging it into Crune. Thus we arrive at CRUDE
Lets try old Cruds.

Going with that we fast forward to the modern era when old crones and old cruds have grown in numbers.
No longer floated on water or burned at the stake, the older generation has flourished.
With them they have preserved a vast amount of knowledge and skill that elevates our society.
Check any small business that has been successful and still going strong.
There is probably an older person behind the scenes that probably is wishing for retirement right about now.
But there is no one to take over the reins.

Is it no wonder that the current persecution of the old has been focused around retirement homes.
I personally have a friend/ client who will be turning 101 in two weeks.
Fortunately for us, she is till living in her own home.
From her I have learned many things about self sufficiency. After all she lived through the depression growing up on a farm. Raising five kids starting in World War II. She has seen dramatic changes in technology, industry and social paradigms.
Could you even fathom what this current state of affairs has brought up for her.
Actually I can tell you, it has triggered World War II memories for her.
But back to the fact that she has so much knowledge that it humbles me to think I would even consider myself an old crone compared to her.
No disrespect.
No, in fact, full Respect.
To the wise and the wizen, the Old Crones and Old Cruds, Thank you.
I dub this season of awakening the awakening of the seasoned.
Let this be the era of the Old Crones. And old Cruds.
Sorry guys but I need to shorten it for brevity sake.
You understand. Kinda used to it, Am I right?

The Old Crone Era.
There is an interesting sense of peace and comfort knowing we have so many old crones in charge of our alternative healing and wellness services. I highly recommend giving them a go.
Examples for those that don’t know, Reiki, acupuncture, massage therapy, sound therapy, astrology, tarot reading. (And now a thing called EES. Go check it out. But this is a traditional list. Med beds are not included.)
Fortunately there are a great many young people now joining in these practices.
In the seasoned tradition, knowledge and skills will pass along as we transition into a new age.
This blend will be the rise of humanity not the demise.
Once again we are the threat to an old and washed up establishment.
Dwelling on the conspiracy has its purpose for revelation and process. It provides the foundation for those newly awakened.
But as an awakened old crone, I choose to focus on how we move forward with this.
I am ready for the future and redirecting attention not to what was but what will be.
This transition is largely in the hands of our older generation.
But it is in the corroboration of teaching the young that will bring about success.
In this the old crones and the young crones bring us wonderful examples of the Divine feminine on the rise.
All in Divine timing.
It is time.
Let it be so.
