Two Streams of Evolution | Steve Beckow

“Our undertaking is the tracking of spiritual evolution to a higher realm of consciousness and that is the focus that we must always return to.” (Archangel Michael) (1)

A higher and a higher and always a higher.

We’re probably involved in innumerable streams of evolution – timelines, parallel lives, higher selves, other universes. So I guess I have to say that I’m restricting myself to the two that I know anything about! The physical and the spiritual.



When we say “evolution,” usually, we’re really talking about the evolution of the body. We see diagrams of apes turning into humans. In the case of homo sapiens, that isn’t at all what happened. We came from the stars. But that’s probably a better subject for another time. (2)

We see evidence of this view in people looking at their chronological lineage as if knowing about our bodily inheritance will help us know something about ourselves. I suppose it will in terms of genetic transfer. But in terms of character, I don’t think it does explain.

As it turns out, we’re spirits who evolve with no reference to our physical body. The physical body itself is no more than a suit of clothes we need to get into the restaurant.

Some people think they need a tuxedo; some a sports jacket; some tennis shorts. Whatever their perceived needs, they select a body suit for it. And parents. And a plan for learning called a “soul contract.” (3)

I can speak from knowledge here because I was outside my body (in 1977) and saw right away that me and my body were separate.

Our body’s evolution over centuries may reflect the upliftment of the collective consciousness over time, just as the rise of disease and pestilence reflects a drop in it. Disease and pestilence don’t exist on the Fifth Dimension or higher, where all is transformative, transfigurative love; only here.

It may not be so much that our physical evolution impacts us as that we impact our physical evolution.

I have little interest this lifetime in the physical body and its evolution. I have boundless interest in the spirit and its evolution. (4)

It’s really spiritual evolution that’s important in the broadest sense. I’ve written so often on the purpose of life that I feel reluctant to say more. Let me compress.

In a 1987 vision, I saw that the purpose of life is enlightenment. (5) The purpose of life is for God to meet God in a moment of our enlightenment. Bayazid of Bistun captures it: “I went from God to God, until they cried from me in me, ‘O thou I!'” (6)

For the purpose of that moment of recognition was all of this made. We’re born of God, as individuated sparks of lovelight, and evolve in knowledge until we know that we are God.

How many times have we heard that we were under a veil of ignorance? Michael once told me what I gave up to incarnate: “Huge portions of memory.” (7) Undoubtedly it’s the same for all of us, since we’re all angels, here to assist with Ascension. (8)

If you extend this forgetting or loss of memory a very great deal, you may have described humans (as spirits) at a much more “primitive” level of evolution. Spiritual evolution is a process of remembering who we are.

At that moment of remembrance, an enlightenment occurs, and another, and another. (9) I used to say “until we merge with God” but now I’m led to believe that we re-emerge after mergence. (10)

It feels as if I really only know one thing: The purpose of life is enlightenment. And the mechanism whereby that purpose is accomplished is spiritual evolution.

Steve: Mother, … you’ve just referred to mergence have you not, or union? And you’re saying that, after they return in union, they go back out into the world. Is that correct?

Divine Mother: Yes. If they so choose, yes. Now, is it in the timeline that human beings tend to think of? No. But eventually there is re-emergence.
