A little to the right….

Matthew Ward says:
“The orderly functioning of the universe requires a continuous balancing act to keep vibrational frequencies from becoming lopsided, so to say; and, as microcosms of the universe who in every moment affect the state of it, souls have their own balancing acts.
“[Karma] is the means whereby the last lifetime can be balanced in the next one by completing the karma, or karmic lessons, in the soul contract.” (1)
I haven’t been able to get this notion of balance at more than an intellectual level. But I got it at a minor-realizational level (an “Aha!”) today. (2)
How I got it was to imagine this leg of our journey from God to God as a superhighway. On the right is a shoulder of a rougher nature than the lane I’m in. You can’t go fast on it.
However, on the left is a fast lane (not like the graphic!). Vroom! Vroom! But it’s also a busier lane. Some people use it as a passing lane. It can get just as choked as the middle lane with people who shouldn’t be in it. And I then get frustrated.
The lane that gets me there quicker with less stress is the lane I’m in – the middle lane. Going at a speed that allows me to remember my commitments.
Sometimes I forget one of my commitments and a policeman pulls me over for speeding. We go to the shoulder and I get a ticket.
Here I am, at a stop, on the shoulder, getting a ticket: This is karma.
I then resolve to stay in the middle (balance) and at the posted speed. This is the learning I get from karma, and it helps me to keep my driving commitments (in this case, remain in balance).
The forward motion represents our progressive unveiling of the God within. We say we get “closer and closer” to God, even though that’s a paradox since God is everything.
However, we speak colloquially and say we are “approaching” God, getting “nearer “to Her. Movement left or right is only useful as it assists movement forward (toward Self-Realization).

Yes, the purpose of life is to know ourselves so that, in that moment of our enlightenment, God can “meet” God. (3)
Nonetheless, the Mother once said that it wasn’t enough for us just to “get there.” “Every step, every breath, everything your face encounters, your eyes gaze upon, everything is miraculous,” she said. (4)
I have to admit I’m not there yet.
But I am willing to drive in the middle lane. I am willing to make commitments to myself and Michael and keep them. So there is a self-governing mechanism I can work with to “true up.”
At the fairground, they have miniature horse races, on a board. The horses are all at different places and go forward because of actions the players take. There, the object is to win so where you are on the board means something.
But in life it does not. Everyone travels the same journey to enlightenment at different times, speeds, and routes. One time or pace is not better than another. It all depends.
“Small steps, Ellie,” said her father in Contact. I am making small steps towards reclaiming my natural … dare I say it? … magnificence.
We’re all angels. We’re all invited to reclaim our capabilities. OK, this is me placing my bet and playing my hand. I see you and raise you ten. (5)

(5) Sanat Kumara: We give you permission and encouragement to say, “This is not reasonable, either on the human side, or to us.” If you have need to tell us to slow down, speed up, help in a different way, we are open, you know, to suggestions. We are reasonable. (Sanat Kumara in a personal reading with Steve Beckow et al through Linda Dillon, Dec. 7, 2011.)
I am ready and willing to reclaim my angelic inheritance. That’s the object of my “small steps” towards balance, but I also welcome and invite any giant leaps as mediated by the Company of Heaven and consistent with my soul contract.
