Obsession stems from desiring more than you are able to receive, which is why it burns so deeply when wanting the things you don’t personally have.
It’s also why the ego is capable of desiring and seeking out such things.
When wanting more than you are able to receive, the ego is set on-course in an attempt to seek out, negotiate, bargain or attract the very things it wants, creating the perfect environment for endless seeking to unfold.
Because receiving is an attribute of the soul, the ego is only capable of seeking and nothing more.
When unaware of this truth, the ego plays its role of leading you to falsely believe how much better you will be — once the things you are unable to receive have somehow been tracked down.
Even when attracting the things you’ve obsessively desired, the very act of receiving puts the ego into a momentary state of intimacy, through which it cannot exist.
This creates one of two likelihoods: either the ego dissolves in the presence of intimacy, birthing an awareness of your soul that has nothing to seek and everything to receive, or as a more likely outcome, your ego will begin finding things to judge about the very things it sought out but was never designed to let in.
The latter is all in attempt to get back on the path of endless seeking where the fantasy of relief is continually imagined by becoming someone else, going somewhere else, attracting someone else or doing something else.
While the process of seeking the things you aren’t able to receive maintains a hiding spot for the ego, ultimately it creates a necessary evolutionary pressure that awakens the light of your soul.
This spontaneous or gradual eruption of consciousness brings to an end such exhausting cycles of obsessive wanting and chasing.
It is not the moment freedom dawns, but the moment the dawning of freedom begins.
As your soul awakens, you may still ‘want’, but without a firm belief that it will instigate life-changing resolve — if and when it’s found.
It can even go so deeply that you don’t know what you want.
If unaware of this precedent as a major sign of soul expansion, the remaining aspects of ego can lead you to feel left out or left behind, if without a new shiny object to obsessively desire, hunt, and track down.
In the perpetual absence of having anything to desire or chase, you are now getting to know yourself from the soul’s point of view.
From this space, patterns of obsession are replaced with moments of gratitude, no matter how big or small the reflections in view may be. As you find yourself more grateful than hungry, you undergo a process of making peace with time as you exit out of the dualistic human karmic cycle.
With everything to appreciate and less belief that someone else, somewhere else, or something else is the relief you seek, you are able to deepen and expand your ability to receive.
As this occurs, you are capable of attracting fulfillment in the most miraculous and unexpected ways, now that your energetic pathways no longer block the ability to receive with obsessive objects of desire.
This is why the true law of attraction has more to do with surrender and integration than it does with deciding the next thing to imagine, crave, and seek.
As the soul’s ability to shine brightly through the intimacy of receiving replaces the ego’s obsessive tailspin, your life is now guided by timeless perfection instead of fantasies projected onto the fabric of time.
Rather than believe your long-awaited future is the force through which a painful past is resolved, you are able to heal past wounds by deepening your depth of receiving through the daily practice of self-love and gratitude.
As self-love and gratitude inform your subconscious of how much safer you are in the present than any moment before, each cellular memory of trauma, abuse or neglect is transmuted over a period of time — not because the ego found the perfect modality it has no ability to implement or receive.
Rather, it is due to a lifetime of obsessive desiring and seeking that finally exhausted you to the point of collapse to create enough inner stillness to awaken the soul and further the ego’s journey of integration.
From this space, there are fewer things to want and so much to receive throughout a journey more interested in your willingness to evolve than bringing you more things to chase, judge and discard.
This is the heart of surrendered intimacy.
All For Love,
Matt
