(Golden Age of Gaia)
I no sooner sat down to meditate than the impulse to go to the computer made itself felt.
This is the first time I’ve seen the two compete.
It isn’t the first time that writing has won out over, say, a spiritual experience. Many a time I’ve written during one. But I’ve never felt myself picked up from my meditation seat.
It’s one more illustration to me – not saying this applies to others – that service comes ahead of enlightenment – for me – in this lifetime. No apologies. Not like it’s somehow a tragic circumstance.
Remember that most of us are angels. “You are angels in form,” the Divine Mother has told us, “and you have been birthed even prior to that as the essence of One.” (1)
Michael also reminded us of our angelic heritage, whether or not we’re forgetful in this dimension:
“Let me also step forward and remind each of you of your angelic heritage, of that seed of the angelic that rests within, around, each of you.
“For you have many faces. You have many aspects. You have had many realms and experiences of existence. And for most of you ― no, not all, but for most of you ― you have had existence as angelic of one kind or another. And you carry within thee this essence to this day.
“Now, why do I bring this forward as we begin yet again this conversation on the principalities, thrones, dominions and so on? Because it is important that you also realize that we do not merely speak about the bureaucracy of heaven, or the Company of Heaven.
“We speak about you, about who you are, and about this energy, this essence, this spark of light that took this form of angelic being once upon a time. And I would urge each of you to acknowledge, to embrace, and to dig and to bring forth your angelic self.” (2)
To those who ask Michael to bring his blue legion and straighten things out, he reminds us: we are they.
“My beloveds, as your brother of peace, I gladly, joyously bring my legions. But do not forget you are part of that [blue] legion. And those of you who are not, are of the legion of Gabrielle, or Jophiel, or Raphael. All of you have multiple faces, multiple existences. But you are anchored in where you are by choice, by free will in service to the Mother.” (3)
Angels hail from beyond the Twelve Dimensions, whether or not they choose to spend time in them. That beingness is what we can call upon, when we don’t choose to muffle it by donning a wet suit and diving to the bottom of the ocean of 3D. So we won’t lose out.
But it was very illuminating to see me get up from the couch where I was just settling into meditation and fetch my laptop. I get it. I get it.
“In service to the Mother.”
Service first. Enlightenment second for me in this lifetime.

If someone still needs reassurance that they won’t be missing out by serving, then consider this: Whether you’re an angel or not, service is unto itself a path to enlightenment, as Sri Krishna makes clear here:
“Let him who would climb
In meditation
To heights of the highest
Union with Brahman [God]
Take for his path
The yoga of action [i.e., karma yoga or service]:
Then when he nears
That height of oneness
His acts will fall from him,
His path will be tranquil.” (4)
Why would the seeker “who would climb in meditation” to God choose the yoga of action? Why not the yoga of meditation?
I think that Krishna is not talking about taking only one path. I think we conceive of spiritual practice as singular. But I believe in ancient times, especially householders probably pursued several paths – ritual, meditation, service, etc. Many do now as well.
Service clarifies and purifies the mind, Sri Krishna explains:
“It is hard to renounce action
Without following the yoga of action.
This yoga purifies
The man of meditation,
Bringing him soon to Brahman.” (5)
This yoga makes it easier to renounce action later by performing action now in an unattached manner. It trains the mind to detach from things. When it comes to meditation, he or she has already achieved detachment.
Moreover, service becomes an attitude and the attitude it engenders tends towards humility, godliness, in my estimation, lessening or eliminating the baggage we carry around.
So the path of action becomes a tool for the meditator to increase his tranquillity and other divine qualities, I’d imagine, helping him to concentrate in meditation.
Now that I’ve served on this laptop, may I meditate?
Back comes the reply: It isn’t either/or. But service has the priority.
