Love Remains My Greatest Ally | Paulette

"Love Remains My Greatest Ally"

Clouds of fear and separation
Billow up to block the sun.
Even hugs are somehow suspect
As the plague creeps town to town.
On my walks, I breathe out gray thoughts,
Breathe in light and smell the rain.
Love remains my greatest ally.
Peace and joy will come again.

How could they have hurt the children,
Plotted evil, told such lies?
We were duped and lulled complacent
To lives stolen before closed eyes.
On my walks, the tears flow freely,
Grief and anger past words roar.
Love remains my greatest ally.
Darkness can be hid no more.

Quaking, floods and storms unnatural
Signal Mother Nature’s ire.
What are we to do, her children?
All is backwards, caught on fire!
On my walks, I hold a pleading -
Light to loosen dark’s tight grip.
Love remains my greatest ally.
Release will come, the scales to tip.

Neighbors, friends apart and distant
By intention kept near war.
Who can know what’s safe to speak of
When confusion slams the door?
On my walks, I mull what truth is,
Seek forgiveness and new ways.
Love remains my greatest ally.
Fears will melt in Love’s warm rays.
