Coming to Peace with Entrainment

Entrainment
I have a fear of entrainment. Of hooking up with something. Of giving away my independence.
Anyone reading this blog for any length of time knows where it comes from. I don’t need to go into that.
But it’s ridiculous, if you look at it, because entrainment is happening everywhere, all the time.
Line up at the bus stop and that’s entrainment. Wait for a free stall in the bathroom and that’s entrainment.
Use a credit card, order food at a restaurant, hold the door open for someone – all entrainment.
Those who don’t like entrainment call it a herd mentality, lemming behavior, baitball safety, etc.
The same people stand in line waiting to board the subway. They pay their bills on time and submit their income taxes.
All mass media create and rely on entrainment. The army relies on entrainment. Every functioning organization relies on some degree of entrainment.
How we entrain can involve everything from education, conditioning, fines, incarceration, and in some regimes even torture. We sometimes call it molding the masses and mind control.
All that ultimately changes for us as we gradually mount Jacob’s ladder of consciousness is that we switch from following influences of darkness to influences of Light. But we still entrain and always will.
Are there not choirs of angels? And legions of blue?
***
Our own discernment, intuition and guidance are our chief defence against deception when choosing whom to entrain with.
Discernment is needed to make the right choice, but entrainment itself is virtually certain.
Three gurus I studied under fell from grace. I was totally devastated when I heard what one of them was up to. (1) My world fell apart.
Not good choices for entrainment on my part, no matter how careful I was in choosing.
I could never possibly say that now. After all I’ve been through since 2010, I’m entirely happy and satisfied with my choices. If I retired tomorrow, I’d be supremely happy with what has occurred up till now. And, yes, I’m happily entrained. Again.
For me, it isn’t about avoiding entrainment and “being my own man,” as my Dad would say. It’s about choosing well when choosing to entrain. And being responsible for my choices later.
I remember saying to my wife in one guru’s ashram after 23 years with him: “I don’t feel that I’ve grown in any significant way with him.” I would never say that today. Oh my gosh.
So – for me – to entrain or not entrain is not the question. The questions are: Whom do I entrain with, how much, and why? Are they safe? Will it be productive?
Footnotes
(1) Many years after, I asked the Divine Mother if she accepts sincere service to a false source or, in my case with these earlier teachers, a fallen guru. She assured me she does. It’s comforting to know that the years were not a waste.
Others who’ve served a false source or fallen guru might be interested in her response:
Steve: If I were to go to another medium and she was not channeling Archangel Michael and I were to do what was being said, and it turns out to be a colossal error, I’m still serving Archangel Michael. Do you know what I mean?
Am I correct in continuing to say to myself, “The source is not what they say they are but it doesn’t matter. I am still serving Archangel Michael.”
Divine Mother: You have reached the place of this clarity. Now, dearest heart, this is exactly what I am talking about in terms of your divine knowing. And nothing is swaying you from that balanced centre of knowing.
So it does not matter whether somebody says they are channeling Hilarion or Mickey Mouse. You know that you are serving my beloved Michael and I would like to suggest to you, Sweet One, not to distract you, but you are serving me.
