A Return to a Normal World by Jan. 1, 2020

Being a recent arrival in the land of the normal, much is foreign to me.

For instance my less-than-normal lifestyle previously saw me live like an adrenalin junkie. I went from one inner shock to another – not like I knew it looking through these eyes. I didn’t. I can only see this in retrospect.

I was soaked in drama. I waffled. I contradicted myself.

Crabby, isolated, living an inner life.

Now here I am, having emerged somewhat from the wet blanket of vasanas. Looking around, feeling ways I’m not used to – like placid – wondering what’s different.

You know what’s different? I’m normal. This is it. This is the destination of all that work of cleansing ourselves of our vasanas. N o r m a l .

I suspect that it’s only possible to be fully human if we enter through this portal called normal. We can’t seem to get through the door if we’re buzzing between extremes.

If I take my personal struggle to the global level, then I’d assert that without normality – on all sides – there will be no peace in this world. This world must make a return to normal its first priority. Whatever it takes.

And then once we’re there, everyone needs to vow never to depart again.

After that, all remaining issues will need to be solved amicably, through arbitration, resolution, and restitution.

This is only possible in a life that’s lived in the state that I’m calling normal. Within a range of frequency acceptable to the widest possible majority of the population (with exceptions). (1)

We want things in the world to return to normal, do we not? Have we not had enough of being played? Have we not seen enough killing and enough civilizations destroyed?

Are we not tired of extremes and despots? Do we not want life in our world to return to peace?

If in some countries, peace is not normal, but distinctly abnormal, then so be it. Let it become the new normal.

I call for a return to a normal world by Jan. 1, 2020. Normal implies peace. Normal implies safety for all. And normal implies mutual forgiveness.

Footnotes

(1) Expectant mothers and the disabled are examples of exceptions.
