A Fresh Start for the World by Jan. 1, 2020

The more I probe into matters, the more I become convinced of a number of things.
(1) The world needs a fresh start. We need to say “Enough!” to every form of violence and thievery and start completely over, completely afresh.
The complete settlement of all debts. We won’t be able to take our resentments with us, where we’re going.
(2) From that moment on, we need to settle our differences peacefully and amicably.
I call this “returning to life as normal.”
I’ve called for a return to normalcy on the planet by Jan. 1, 2020. (1) We have four months to bring all violent and otherwise threatening behavior on the planet to a full stop and agree from that moment on to live in peace with each other.
(3) We need to begin a global conversation, a conversation directed to the whole world.
Its object would be to reduce tensions globally and increase international cooperation so as to prevent future wars.
I have no idea what such a conversation would look like, but I feel a need to start it, nonetheless.
We need to be addressing the whole of the world on issues of mutual concern. There are so many I don’t want to begin a list here.
If we want our world to return to life as normal and have a fresh start on doing it right, then we need to treasure the idea of returning to a normal life again and be willing to pay the price for it: Keeping the peace.
Normal is one way of pointing at the range in which we’d need keep our behavior. Or you can call it civilized. Or humane. The name doesn’t really matter. Whatever name works for you.
Crucial however is the need to keep our behavior from then on within a middle range and not stray outside it into extremes. Did not Hitler, Mussolini, and Stalin teach us our lesson once and for all? Idi Amin? Muammar Ghaddafi?
No meme wars. No slogans. No polarization. Come back to the center, the middle, the balance point. And don’t stray from it again.
That would be my initial contribution to a global conversation on returning our world to peace.
