Only through suffering can we begin to enquire into who we really are. Who really enquires into who they really are when they are happy at the moment? That is the grace of suffering: it pushes you to enquire into who suffers. That can only be the ego (“I am the body” identity). Once the ego is transcended, you suddenly realize you have always been home in the Heart of Awareness. With that realization, comes the knowing that the sufferer was a mirage whom was mistaken to be one’s own Self. That Self is in actuality just Pure Awareness/Unconditional Love. Once you have discovered this, suffering can no longer affect you because you will know by then that you, being all of creation, can never suffer. You can only suffer when you limit yourself to being the body that is separate from the rest of creation. Only then will there be permanent happiness, bliss, and peace. That which is unlimited, inexhaustible, formless, all-pervading, infinite can never be subjected to any limitation such as suffering. Suffering was and will always be a mental concept that one has identified with. Instead, abide as the concept-less Reality: the Heart of Awareness.
