Merry Christmas, Everyone!

When Jesus was born, the Creator released another clear Voice of the Divine into the world. (1)

The impact of his teachings has been so great that numerous later masters reached exalted levels of enlightenment following them.

My favorite estimation of Jesus is the Zen master who, after reading the New Testament, is rumored to have said, “This man is very close to enlightenment.”

But that isn’t really what we celebrate at Christmastime, is it? Jesus’ enlightenment teachings?

In my humble opinion, what we really celebrate is the communal bond that Jesus took such care to nurture.

Love one another as I have loved you is really at the heart of the way we celebrate Christmas in a modern urban society, is it not?

Families come together at this time of year. Friends seek each other out. People hand out meals and clothing to the homeless.

No matter how much we commercialize Christmas, the heart of it – love one another as I have loved you – persists. Like the star at the top of the Christmas tree, this lesson acted upon each Christmastime is what makes it Christmas for me.

And so, on this day on which we especially live the teachings of Jesus – this day set aside especially for that purpose – we here at the Golden Age of Gaia wish you the deepest experience of heart bonding in love.

Let it fulfill the teaching of Jesus: Love one another as I have loved you.

If you’ll allow me to say it, let all of Jesus’ rich teachings be fulfilled in us. Let the wisdom in them be made manifest in our actions in the coming year.
