You seek divine experience, and you balk away from it. What do you think is going to happen to you when you let go of your reserve? What do you think is going to happen when you take off your shoes and leave the past behind? What precipice do you think you are on the edge of?
You are hesitant about edges. Beloveds, the edge of this world that you fear is the beginning of Heaven! And yet you fear to step over the edge. You are perhaps afraid that you will bounce and land you know not where or not land at all.
You like to put your foot down on solid earth. You like it very much. You like the sensation of smashing a cigarette under your foot.
You call density solid. Solid means firm. Solid also has a connotation of being strong and good. When you say a man is solid, you mean he is dependable. You can be sure of him, is this not so?
And you call the ground your feet stand on solid, and yet you know that the ground under your feet is not dependable at all.
Heaven is not dense, beloveds. Light is not dense. Heaven is not heavy. You may know how to dance on Earth, yet wait until you dance in Heaven! Think of what it will mean to be out of the field of gravity. Gravity is heavy, and Heaven is light.
We can say that the Planet Earth is Heaven solidified. The field of gravity of the Earth holds you on it, or you would fly away in a minute.
It is true. You have fear of flying. You like to hold on. You like a banister. You like to lean your head on a pillow, and you are not sure that a cloud will do.
The physical is precious to you. You may denounce it, but you are in love with it. This is not an accusation I am making. This is fine. I want you to be in love with life on the Planet Earth. I want you to do handstands. I want you to roll on the grass. And, as you do, keep looking up at the sky, which is a metaphor for Heaven. The sky waits for you, and you wait for Heaven.
In one sense, all of Heaven is on Earth. It is the same place. Earth holds you down, and Heaven frees you. You have already had glimpses of Heaven on the very planet you walk on. As your feet walk the Earth, keep your eye on Heaven. Your life is preparing you for Heaven. Be assured Heaven is yours.
The Earth is meant for you, and Heaven is meant for you. Truly, you can have the best of both worlds. Life on Earth is not a lark, nor is Heaven so serious as you think. Heaven does not have the gravity that sticks to you on Earth.
When you move full-time into Heaven, you will really know what joy is. If you want to have fun, come to Heaven. Join Me. Just as on Earth, We have beauty here. We have all the joy in the world rolled up into One.
I want to be sure you know that the Divine is enjoyable. Whatever you have thought Heaven might be like, I assure you it is not stodgy. You do not have to be solemn. There is stillness, but that doesn’t mean you have to sit still. You will know the joy of flying at every moment. Your heart will soar. You will have all the freedom you have dreamed of. You will like it here.
Wait for your turn with anticipation. And while you wait, have fun on Earth.
