Beloved, may all your dreams come true. And also may the glories you do not yet dream of also fall into your lap and further be handed down to your children. May your dreams fill all the world with joy, and you ascend to your heart’s content.
Your choicest dreams are not obliged to come true. Dreams in general are not obligated to come true. Count your blessings. You did land where you landed, and you are alive.
Your ship may not always dock where you most want it to. Your ship has the choice to follow whatever port the winds take it to. In the long view, be well-delighted with whatever port the seas pull you toward.
Even a seeming uncharted course may be a spectacular reward for you. Allow leeway in your heart. You may receive what is called a blessing in disguise. Even a hard row to hoe may hold hidden blessings for you. Withhold your judgment. Even when your deepest-sought after dreams do not appear, there is still something good for you around the bend. Even in plain-out heartache, there is something in what befalls that will serve you and the world. You do not always know in advance truly which coat of many colors is yours.
All of life is not always going to please you. The die is cast, however. What occurs, occurs.
When baby Moses drifted in his cradle through the bulrushes, who surmised what good fortune awaited him and the world?
The same is true for when Joseph’s brothers sold him down the river. No one on Earth guessed Joseph would become such a ruler with good fortune for all.
Who on Earth sees in bright light what is about to befall a minute from now? The experience that you receive may not at all be anything you would choose, yet here you are. This is the experience that reaches you. Please do not fight your life tooth and nail. No matter how tragic you perceive what occurs, there is something in the experience therein that will bring out the best in you. Cry your heart out, if you must, and then be as forthright and brave and rise to the occasion with your back straight.
There may be much you would not invite and which you do not welcome, yet it is yours to grow with. However you may weep in your heart, still there is gold in it for you. Maybe you are to learn humility. Maybe you are to learn boldness. Maybe you will bless others as the dawn meets the day. You may be given great blessings. There are modern-day miracles waiting for you as well.
You may learn to heap good on others’ behalf that you would never have had an opportunity to do had you not gone through what you have seen as deep suffering.
Here is the story of Lorenzo’s Oil: Lorenzo was a precocious six-year old boy, when at six years of age, he was first diagnosed with an irreversible fatal genetic nerve disease. There was no hope of cure or delay because so few children were affected, and there was no focus on research.
Lorenzo’s father brought Lorenzo’s illness to the public eye and fought for research which did result in the life-giving production of Lorenzo’s Oil. Lorenzo’s father’s courage and devotion and results didn’t come soon enough to save Lorenzo. Lorenzo’s father, however, made it possible for other fathers’ sons to live a long and full life span in good health so long as they took the life-saving oil named rightly in honor of Lorenzo.
Yes, there are ties that bind in a worthy sense.
